Weekend’s rugby action April 26-28

26/04/2013

After finishing the league season last Saturday, Jersey's 1st XV
have a week off ahead of the final challenge of the season, the
Siam Cup v Guernsey next weekend (Saturday, KO 3pm at St Peter,
with Ladies, 2nd teams and Vets also in action).

This weekend there are two JRA matches at St Peter, both on
Saturday. At 12noon Jersey Wanderers play HMP La Moye in the
Governor's Trophy, and an hour later at 1pm Jersey United Banks
will play St Jacques from Guernsey in the Macmillan Cup final. St
Jacques finished fourth in the JRA table in the regular season,
while Banks went into the Macmillan after losing a semi-final with
Jersey Athletic last Wednesday. Athletic take on LQ Lydian Lions in
the season-ending Sugden Cup final on the eve of Liberation Day,
Wednesday May 8th (evening KO tbc).

Two RFU Championship sides, Bedford and Newcastle, will meet in
the semi-final of the British & Irish Cup at Goldington Road on
Saturday at 3pm, while the other semi-final sees Leinster &
Munster's 'A' teams collide tonight at 7.30pm. There's also a final
pool game being completed after the poor weather earlier in the
season, the pool 1 clash between Connacht Eagles and Newport
(Saturday, 2.30pm).

More info on the B&I semis and from around the RFU
Championship can be obtained via last weekend's opponents, Cornish
Pirates, who post an excellent regular Friday round-up on their
website - see HERE.

Also watch out for the last-four stages of the Heineken and
Amlin Cups. In the junior (Challenge) event, Perpignan play Stade
Francais tonight at 8pm while Leinster and Biarritz face off on
Saturday afternoon at 2.30pm. In the Heineken Cup it's Clermont v
Munster on Saturday at 5pm, followed by Saracens v Toulon on Sunday
at 3pm.

Enjoy your weekend's rugby!
