Unchanged Reds XV for round 10

24/11/2017

Jersey will be looking to follow Black Friday with Reds Saturday with a home win over Yorkshire Carnegie this weekend.

The Island side have won both their games so far in November, gaining valuable breathing space between themselves and the Championship relegation zone. They have thus far failed to improve their placing in the table however and remain 10th, but know the only way will be up should they be able to overcome the visitors from Yorkshire.

It'll be no easy task against a side who have won eight of the 10 league encounters with the Reds over the past five seasons, although the last Championship match-up resulted in a hard-fought 24-19 Jersey home victory, and the Reds also claimed a 32-3 B&I Cup victory six weeks ago over a young Carnegie side.

The starting XV running out on their home turf at Stade Santander International will be unchanged from the line-up who registered an emphatic 14-45 win over Rotherham Titans last Saturday. Four players will make their 10th consecutive league start: leading try-scorer Tom Pincus, who claimed a hat-trick at Clifton Lane last weekend and has eight Championship tries in the bank; top points scorer Brendan Cope, who has 71 to his name; and forwards Jerry Sexton and Conor Joyce.

The only changes to the squad are on the bench, with Jordan Brodley and Rory Pitman introduced to the replacement ranks ahead of Roy Godfrey and Tom Quarrie.

Wet weatherin the build-up to the game means there will be limited car parking at Stade Santander International - supporters are asked to consider other means of getting to the game (bus routes 9/15, taxi, lift, walking, cycling) or for those who do wish to drive, please allow additional time to ensure you can get parked.

This weekend sees the penultimate round of the first half of this season's Greene King IPA Championship - the Reds will complete their first half schedule next Friday with an away game against Nottingham.

After a weekend off, Jersey Reds Athletic will pick up their Zoo Shield programme with an away trip to Cambridge, kicking off at 12.30pm.
