Jersey Reds have confirmed the final two fixtures for the club's summer pre-season schedule.
On Saturday July 28th the Reds will host RC Vannes, who play in the second tier of the French leagues. The two clubs met in the Breton resort of Arzon, near Vannes, last summer with the hosts running out 38-14 winners.
On Saturday August 18th, English National 1 side Old Elthamians will visit Stade Santander International to take on the Reds. This will be the first time the clubs have met at 1st XV level, although the respective 2nd XVs have faced each other in the Zoo Shield. The south-east London club are bringing two squads and will also play a game on the same day against Jersey Reds Athletic.
The two dates are added to the previously announced home game against Aviva Premiership side Harlequins on Saturday August 11th.
Jersey Reds Head Coach Harvey Biljon said: “We’ve now finalised a strong set of pre-season challenges. It was interesting to measure ourselves against French opponents last year and we’ll be keen to give Vannes a competitive match on our home turf. Old Elthamians are an ambitious and well-resourced club and I think will also provide really worthwhile opposition. Combined with the home game against Harlequins that we’d already confirmed, pre-season is looking good - but we have some very important games remaining this season to focus on first."
The full pre-season schedule is as follows:
Saturday July 28th: Jersey Reds v RC Vannes (k-o 3pm)
Saturday August 11th: Jersey Reds v Harlequins (k-o 7pm) (note revised time)
Saturday August 18th: Jersey Reds v Old Elthamians (k-o 3pm); Jersey Reds Athletic v Old Elthamians 2nd XV (12noon)
