New Strength & Conditioning Coach

04/02/2015

Jim Molony has been appointed as the new man responsible for the
fitness of the Jersey RFC squad.

Molony started work this week after arriving on the Island in time
to see his new club register a gritty win against Nottingham on
Saturday.

After completing a degree in Sports Rehabilitation from the
University of Salford, 30-year-old Molony gained experience working
with a number of strength coaches in the USA prior to returning to
his native Ireland. He worked for Munster for two years and then in
summer 2011 joined neighbouring Irish province Connacht.

"Jim comes to us highly recommended after doing some great work in
getting Connacht players in shape for their Rabo Pro 12 and
European Challenge Cup campaigns," said Head Coach Harvey Biljon.
"He joins us with around a third of our 29-game season to go, so
his immediate priority will be to keep the players in shape and
ready for the important final stretch of the season.

"The key period of anyone in a S&C role is pre-season, and
over the coming months he will be able to analyse how the club
operates and have his own input so that he is ready to welcome
members of the squad back in June and begin the hard work of
building towards the new season."

Molony's appointment follows the departure of Jake Aliker at the
start of January for a new career as a personal trainer for Formula
One driver Max Verstappen, the 17-year-old who will drive for the
Toro Rosso team in the forthcoming season.
