Jersey 0 Yorkshire Carnegie 34

23/04/2016

On a beautiful sunny afternoon at St Peter, the Reds unfortunately couldn't shine in their last Championship match of the season, and ended up well beaten by Yorkshire Carnegie, who will go forward to their play-off semi-final in fine spirits.

Playing into the wind and up the slope, the Reds went in at half time trailing by 0-19 having conceded three tries.

There was  still good reason for hope as the second period got underway, but at key moments the lineout didn't function, and balls went to ground.

To their credit, Yorkshire Carnegie scored three more good tries, and defended well when called upon to do so.

To add to the disappointment, London Welsh secured the BP victory they needed to leapfrog Jersey and claim fifth spot in the final Greene King IPA Championship table.
