Dan is the man as Reds add another player to squad

07/07/2020

Jersey Reds have bolstered the midfield ranks of their squad for the 2020/21 season with the recruitment of former London Scottish centre Dan Barnes.

The 25-year-old spent a season with the Exiles, featuring at both centre and fly-half, having formerly spent time in the national leagues with Rosslyn Park and Henley Hawks. Born in Reading, Barnes was part of the Wasps Academy set-up between 2015 and 2017.

Director of Rugby Harvey Biljon said: “I’m really pleased to be bringing in Dan – he featured regularly in the Championship for Scottish last season, and showed he has potential to develop his game further and become a real asset in a Reds’ shirt.”

The latest signing will join 15 players from the Reds’ 2019/20 squad, as well as 17 other new faces unveiled in recent weeks. The club have already confirmed the signings of hookers George Edgson and Harry Doolan, props Ollie Dawe, Jack Higgins and Ciaran Parker, locks Macauley Cook, Zak Farrance, Shay Kerry and Sean O’Connor, flanker Lewis Wynne, scrum-halves Michael Dowsett and James Elliott, fly-half Sam Leeming and outside backs Jack Roberts, Lesley Klim, Ryan Hutler and Kurt Heatherley.
