Biljon switches backs for Bedford

03/10/2014

Jersey's starting XV for Saturday's trip to Bedford shows three
changes in the back-line.

Head Coach Harvey Biljon has chosen Mark McCrea (pictured

and Grant Pointer at wing in preference to Jack
Burroughs and Mark Foster, while Nicky Griffiths is given a start
at scrum-half with Ryan Glynn switched to the bench.

In the pack, loose-head prop Sam Lockwood returns after injury.
Ignacio Lancuba moves to the bench, where he is joined by veteran
Jon Brennan; tight-head Brennan is in line for his first league
appearance of the season, as is Tobias Hoskins, who will provide
three-quarter cover for the Islanders.

"Competition for places remains tight, and that has led to the
decision to give Mark McCrea and Grant opportunities this weekend,"
said Biljon. "We know we are in for a tough afternoon at Bedford
and the squad will need to be at their best if we are to compete
and have a shot at winning."

Jersey claimed the most important win of their two-year stay in
the Greene King IPA Championship on their last visit to Goldington
Road; a 31-41 victory secured an escape from relegation.
