Noone becomes latest Jersey signing18/07/2014
Jersey RFC have confirmed former Leicester Tigers back row player Michael Noone as the latest addition to the club's 1st team squad.
24-year-old Michael, who was born and raised in County Wicklow, Ireland, has played professionally in England for the last three seasons and comes to Jersey soon after the news that Latu Makaafi would be leaving the Island to move to England with his family.
Michael made 21 Championship appearances for Doncaster in 2011/12 before joining Leicester in summer 2012. He featured in several LV Cup games for the Tigers and played at St Peter against Jersey in the pre-season match in August 2013, as well as representing Rotherham in the Championship while on loan.
"Michael is a talented player who is seeking to establish himself in our squad," said Head Coach Harvey Biljon. "He's a couple of weeks behind his new colleagues in terms of preparation, but has already been working hard and showing great enthusiasm to get involved and make sure he's 100% ready when we get onto the field."
The Jersey squad are building up to the Greene King IPA Championship season, which starts on September 6th. Ahead of this date, Jersey play three pre-season matches at St Peter:
* August 16th: Jersey v Ayr (4pm)
* August 23rd: Jersey v Bath (3pm)
* August 30th: Jersey v Blackheath (4pm)
