Yorkshire Carnegie 33 Jersey 3220/03/2016
A full clubhouse at St Peter watched on as Jersey came agonisingly close to creating another piece of history and securing a place in the final of this year's B&I cup, but it wasn't to be.
The Reds out-scored their hosts by 6 tries to 5, but missed conversion attempts ultimately proved Jersey's downfall.
Having taken an early lead, Jersey were then put under serious periods of pressure as Yorkshire established a lead that they were never to relinquish.
Turning round at 26-17 behind, Jersey were first to score in the second period.
Both sides stuck to task, and when reduced to 13 men in the final 5 minutes, Jersey repelled a number of Yorkshire 'lineout and drive' moves before getting themselves into a position the other end to put pressure on. Three reset scrums didn't yield the penalty that the Reds were searching for, and when Yorkshire turned the ball over in the loose Kevin Sinfield hoisted it into the stands and the final whistle went.
